We don't collect your personal data. The app works offline for ney and usul audio. We embed YouTube videos for reference recordings — those are subject to YouTube's own privacy policy.
The Makam is a reference app for Turkish classical and folk music. We built it to help musicians, producers, and curious listeners hear how makam music works — not to collect data about them.
This policy explains what data is handled when you use the app.
We do not collect any personal information. The app does not require an account, login, or any form of registration.
Any preferences you set in the app — language, note-name format, settings — are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
The app contains authentic ney samples and usul (rhythmic cycle) audio bundled directly into the app. These play locally on your device and require no internet connection.
Audio samples used in the app are credited in the in-app acknowledgments. Usul recordings by Barış Bozkurt from the CompMusic project at Universitat Pompeu Fabra are used with the artist's permission and attribution under Creative Commons. Ney phrase reference by yurci is used under Creative Commons Attribution.
The Makam embeds YouTube videos for curated reference recordings and taksim improvisations. When you play a video, you interact directly with YouTube's player. YouTube may collect data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not control what YouTube collects during video playback. If you want to use the rest of the app without contacting YouTube's servers, simply do not tap the reference recording links.
We do not use any analytics tools, crash reporting services, or tracking of any kind. We have no visibility into how you use the app.
The only third-party service integrated into the app is YouTube (Google LLC) for embedded reference video playback. No other third-party SDKs, advertising networks, or data brokers are used.
The Makam is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
